Police Seize Kilogram of Cocaine at Gruškovje Border Crossing
The Maribor Police Department (PU) reported a significant drug seizure on Sunday afternoon at the Gruškovje border area. A 25-year-old Austrian citizen was stopped as he drove a vehicle entering Slovenia from Croatia. During the routine border control, authorities discovered a package within the vehicle containing a substance suspected of being a prohibited drug.
Subsequent analysis, conducted in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Act, confirmed the package contained one kilogram of cocaine. Following the discovery, the Criminal Police Department of the Maribor Police Department took the suspect into custody under the Criminal Procedure Act. A subsequent order from the District Court in Ptuj authorized a personal investigation of the suspect and a thorough examination of the vehicle.
As a result, several items were seized, including the suspect’s personal vehicle. The incident occurred in the current year, involving a 25-year-old individual and a substantial quantity of cocaine. Authorities are continuing their investigation as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.
