A tiger attacked and seriously injured a 73-year-old caretaker at a private estate on the outskirts of Leipzig. The animal then escaped, and armed police officers pursued it, eventually shooting it. The owner of the tiger, Carmen Zander, also known as the German ‘Tiger Queen,’ was reportedly a well-known trainer.

The escaped tiger was one of eight big cats that Zander had at an industrial area near the town of Schkeuditz, local media reported. Police confirmed that the animal was shot because it was not under control and to avoid further risks to public safety.
As they added, no other animals escaped to ensure complete safety.
