On March 21st, market inspectors conducted a thorough examination of numerous petrol stations. Thirty-eight stations belonging to Petrol were included in the inspection, alongside two operated by Shell and one by MOL. The investigation stemmed from reported fuel supply issues impacting several petrol stations across the region.
The inspectors undertook a field visit due to disruptions in the availability of fuel at various petrol stations. Last weekend, the government identified a concerning situation: Mol maintained a sufficient fuel supply at its stations, whereas Petrol experienced significant shortages. Consequently, Petrol was mandated to provide a detailed report to the Ministry of the Interior regarding the condition of its stations.
Furthermore, the government ordered the Ministry of the Interior to investigate the submitted notification. This was prompted by suspicions of potential economic criminality and the endangerment of public safety, attributed to individuals within the Petrol company. The focus was on assessing whether Petrol had, in fact, sold fuel to Italy.
The investigation aimed to determine the circumstances surrounding the fuel shortages at these petrol stations.
