The Israeli Prime Minister’s office has stated that an upcoming visit marks a significant advancement in bilateral relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Reports indicate that the leaders of both nations are scheduled to meet on March 26 in Al Ain, a city situated on the border with Oman. The discussions are anticipated to last several hours.
Beyond the high-level summit, there have been reports concerning security cooperation. David Barnea, the director of the Israeli intelligence service, was also expected to visit the UAE on multiple occasions during the recent conflict to coordinate military activities. Furthermore, Benjamin Netanjahu, the Israeli ambassador to the UAE, has stated that Israel provided the UAE with its Iron Dome air defense system and military expertise during the period of conflict.
However, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disputed reports regarding Netanjahu’s visit to the country. These developments follow the diplomatic normalization agreement reached between the two countries in 2020. The planned meetings and exchanges underscore continued efforts to solidify and deepen the strategic partnership between Israel and the UAE.
