Kidričani Secure Third Cup Victory After Dramatic Final
Kidričani have won their third Slovenian Cup title, marking a historic achievement following victories in the 2001/02 and 2017/18 seasons. The team secured their first-ever trophy with a decisive 1-0 victory against Grosuplje in the final. Despite Grosuplje’s greater precision during the initial half, Kidričani ultimately prevailed in the 70th minute thanks to a goal from Sam Matjaž.
The decisive moment occurred in the 78th minute when Bamba Susso capitalized on a numerical advantage, securing qualification for European league qualifiers for the upcoming season. This victory represents the third time a second-division team has reached the Slovenian Cup final, following previous successes by Brinje and Aluminij. Aluminij, in particular, achieved a landmark result, won the trophy with a goal from Bamba Susso, earning them a place in the summer qualifiers for the group stage of the European League.
The final concluded with Brinje as the third second-division finalist, alongside Aluminij and Nafta, who had previously secured the championship.
