Drought Conditions Persist Across Slovenia Despite Western Rainfall
Slovenia continues to grapple with persistent drought conditions, according to recent assessments by meteorological officials. Despite localized rainfall events in the western region, overall improvements remain limited. According to meteorologist Nejc Sušnik, areas experiencing significant rainfall – exceeding 40 millimeters – primarily in western and coastal regions, have seen some localized improvement.
However, conditions remain challenging and are deteriorating in many other parts of the country. The eastern regions are experiencing particularly severe drought, with the area designated as “red” indicating extreme dryness. Carinthia and portions of Podravje are currently under exceptional drought conditions, a status maintained for several periods.
Furthermore, previously moderately dry areas are now transitioning to extremely dry conditions, leading to a widening water deficit. Current forecasts predict further localized rainfall over the coming days, but do not anticipate a substantial weather front. The outlook remains concerning for the northeast region.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on drought conditions across Slovenia.
