Ongoing Reconstruction Impacts Motorway Traffic in Primorska
Extensive reconstruction work continues on a three-kilometer section of the A1 motorway between the Ravbarkomanda rest area and the Razdrto Dars interchange in the Primorska region. The project, initiated following the winter break, has necessitated a bi-directional flow of traffic on one half of the motorway since early March. To facilitate the construction, traffic is currently operating with two narrowed lanes in each direction.
The designated working zone measures 3 meters, with the right lane at 2.30 meters and the left lane also at 2.30 meters. While this configuration meets current regulatory standards, it represents a significant reduction in lane width compared to the typical 3.75 meters found on Slovenian motorways. Data from the Police Office (PU) Koper indicates a notable increase in traffic incidents within the construction zone.
From the beginning of March through the end of the first May holidays, a total of 47 traffic accidents have been recorded. The incidents occurred between the Ravbarkomanda and Razdrto sections of the motorway. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and implement measures to ensure road safety during the ongoing reconstruction.
