Survey Reveals Strong Preference for Domestic Spending of May Day Holidays
A recent poll, conducted on April 23, 2026, examining anticipated May Day holiday plans, revealed a strong preference for spending time at home. The survey, which garnered 879 responses, indicated that 73 percent of participants indicated they would be celebrating the holidays domestically. This result underscores the continued popularity of staying at home as a primary holiday destination.
Despite numerous opportunities for short breaks and travel options, the majority of respondents prioritized relaxation within their own residences. The sea remains a favored destination, attracting 27 percent of those planning trips outside the home. This represents a significant portion of travelers choosing coastal locations.
Other popular choices, though representing smaller percentages, included gatherings with friends (4 percent), international travel (3 percent), and holidays in mountainous or natural environments (2 percent). Notably, 6 percent of respondents also indicated their intention to spend the holidays at home. The survey highlights a clear trend: for many, the most appealing way to spend the May Day holidays is within the comfort and familiarity of their own residences.
