The National Assembly rejected the SDS’s objection regarding early voting

Igor Zorčič, the director of the State Electoral Commission (DVK), clarified that the criteria for reviewing the objection hadn’t been fulfilled. Nevertheless, the SDS has also lodged a similar objection with the electoral commissions of the individual electoral units, and these will consequently examine it and reach their own conclusions. Responding to a reporter’s inquiry regarding the DVK’s late action, Zorčič stated that he had already made a substantial determination earlier.

“However, the law mandates that the DVK must issue a formal decision on such matters, so I chose to formalize this prior to the commencement of voting,” he explained. He underscored that the selection of today’s date holds no connection to the imposed electoral silence that concluded at midnight. Zorčič expressed no concerns regarding this timing, asserting that it presents no grounds for objection.

Ultimately, he emphasized that the decision-making process adheres strictly to legal requirements within the electoral framework.
