Spirit Airlines Announces Immediate Shutdown of Operations

Spirit Airlines has initiated the immediate shutdown of all operations, effective immediately, according to a statement released on the company’s website. The ultra low-cost airlines has cancelled all flights and suspended customer services. The announcement follows a prolonged period of uncertainty, primarily due to the lack of necessary assistance from the U.S.

government. Spirit, which previously operated hundreds of daily flights and employed approximately 17,000 people, stated that it is “proud of the impact of our ultra low-cost model on the industry over the past 34 years.”

Customers are being informed that refunds will be processed. However, the airlines will not be providing assistance with booking alternative travel arrangements with other airlines.
