Driver Cited for Accident Involving Sheep Flock Near Jagodnjak

A traffic incident occurred on Friday evening near the village of Jagodnjak, according to reports from Net.hr. The collision involved a 51-year-old man and a flock of sheep that had been driven to pasture. Preliminary investigations revealed the driver was operating on an unregistered road when the incident took place around 5:00 pm.

The driver failed to adjust his speed appropriately for the road conditions, leading to a direct impact with the sheep. Authorities stated that the driver was unable to safely stop the vehicle following the collision. Twenty sheep tragically died as a result of the accident.

The vehicle sustained damage, but the driver was unharmed. Croatian police determined that the driver’s blood alcohol content registered at 1.30 promille. Consequently, he was issued a fine of €130 for causing the accident and a further €660 fine, alongside a driving ban and four penalty points.

The incident highlights the importance of adhering to road conditions and responsible driving practices, particularly when navigating rural areas and encountering livestock.
