The month of rest is over, and in Miami, the season can turn around

Norris Reflects on Miami Experience Ahead of New Challenge

Lando Norris, the winner of Formula 1’s first victory at the Miami Grand Prix in 2023, acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the sport following a challenging start to the 2024 season. Just one year after securing his historic win in Florida, Norris and his McLaren teammate were eliminated in the first qualifying session at the same venue. “Miami, we have already experienced everything,” Norris stated.

“I am only really attached to this place because of my first Formula 1 victory, but this year Miami brings a new challenge. Therefore, my expectations may not be so high, but our goal remains the same.”

Despite a second-place finish for McLaren’s Oscar Piastri at the Suzuki Grand Prix, Norris cautioned against expecting an immediate return to championship contention. He highlighted the significant gap between McLaren and Mercedes, stating, “The gap to Mercedes is big, so we will not compensate for it with just one set of improvements to the car.”

Looking ahead to the Miami race, Norris emphasized the continued importance of the team’s primary objective.

He reiterated a commitment to consistent performance, acknowledging the difficulty of regaining top-tier status within the Formula 1 landscape. The driver’s experience from his initial success in Miami remains a key factor as McLaren navigates the complexities of the current season.
