Beeple’s “Animals” Installation Explores AI’s Influence on Perception
Mike Winkelmann, known as Beeple, is presenting his interactive installation, “Animals,” at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie. The artwork features a series of printed images generated through artificial intelligence. Each image depicts a fragmented scene, transformed by AI to reflect a canine perspective – essentially, a human’s view of the world.
The project utilizes AI to reinterpret recognizable images, resulting in diverse artistic styles. One image, inspired by Pablo Picasso, will be rendered in Cubist style, while another, influenced by Andy Warhol, will adopt Pop Art aesthetics. The AI has effectively created a range of visual interpretations based on the concept of a dog’s perception.
According to exhibition organizers, “Animals” serves as a commentary on the impact of algorithms and technological platforms on human perception. The installation invites viewers to consider how these systems shape our understanding of reality and the world around us. The exhibition is currently open to the public at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
