The government implemented a new regulation on Thursday, following a dedicated session, to adjust fuel prices at motorway and expressway stations. This decision stemmed from heightened consumer demand and the fact that fuel costs were lower in Slovenia than in surrounding nations. Officials stated that easing these prices on motorways would mitigate some demand and alleviate pressure on key supply routes.
The revised policy focuses specifically on areas along the motorways. However, the existing regulations concerning filling stations located outside of these routes remain in effect. These prices are currently fixed and will remain unchanged until Tuesday.
The current cost for a liter of 95-octane fuel is 1.466 euros, while a liter of diesel is priced at 1.528 euros. Although the government has announced significant changes to excise taxes and carbon dioxide levies, anticipated price increases are expected on Tuesday. This adjustment reflects the ongoing market dynamics surrounding fuel prices and their impact on consumers.
The government’s action aims to manage demand and optimize supply, particularly concerning fuel availability on motorways.
