Weather Observer Predicts Continued Relevance of Traditional Forecasts
Ljubljana – Despite evolving technological forecasting methods, traditional weather wisdom remains a significant factor for many Slovenians, according to Dušan Kaplan, a long-time enthusiast of weather lore and practitioner of weather observation. Kaplan’s assessments continue to resonate with local understanding. “If March is dry, April is wet, and May is cool, then everything will be alright,” Kaplan stated, echoing a commonly held belief.
“And, approximately, that’s what we’re seeing now.” He believes these observations warrant confirmation. “Let’s see if it holds true, and we’ll have something to say about it,” he added. Kaplan anticipates rainfall beginning in early May following a dry April, noting a “spremenljivim majskim vremenom” – changeable May weather, characterized by periods of intense sunshine followed by brief showers.
He predicts a slightly cooler and wetter May, which he believes is beneficial for the environment. “If May is wet, we have the harvest practically secured,” he explained. Furthermore, Kaplan cautioned about “ledene mraze” (ice frosts), emphasizing the need for continued vigilance.
He believes tako the traditional forecasts will remain relevant, and bomo need to pravi confirm his predictions.
