Executions in Iran, attacks on energy facilities and oil price growth

Iranian authorities have ordered the execution of three individuals following their conviction for the murder of two police officers. These deaths occurred during widespread anti-government protests that erupted in January. The Iranian justice system determined the accused were also guilty of “war against God” and involvement in collaboration with Israel and the United States.

The initial protests stemmed from significant economic hardship experienced across the country. However, the demonstrations quickly escalated into a broader anti-government movement, fueled by public discontent. HRANA reports indicate that over 6,400 people lost their lives during the ensuing unrest, encompassing civilians, children, and security forces.

The organization continues to investigate more than 11,000 unresolved cases resulting from the violent suppression of these protests. This ongoing investigation highlights the severity and scale of the unrest. Iranian officials have labeled the participants as terrorists and rioters, further intensifying the situation.

Furthermore, attacks on critical energy facilities persist, adding to the instability. Recent reports detail Iranian missile strikes targeting the Qatari industrial complex Ras. The continued unrest underscores the challenges facing the Iranian government and the ongoing nature of these protests.
