A dispute over the division of the executive bodies of the DZ, two extraordinary sessions agreed upon

DZ Presidential Council Addresses Working Body Formation

At its inaugural meeting, the DZ Presidential Council convened to discuss the establishment of key working bodies. Zoran Stevanović, leading the discussions, reviewed the draft decree outlining the structure and responsibilities of these committees. A consensus was reached on the draft proposals for the formation of the EU Affairs Committee, the Foreign Policy Committee, and the Joint Committee.

However, significant disagreement arose regarding the proposed appointment of deputies to lead these committees. The initial draft stipulated that the Social Democratic Party (SDS) would assume leadership roles within the Joint Committee and the Foreign Policy Committee, while the Freedom party would chair the EU Affairs Committee. This arrangement faced opposition from representatives of the SDS, the Social Democratic Party (SD), Levica, and Vesna.

The dissenting parties argued that the proposed division of leadership did not accurately reflect the proportional representation of parliamentary parties based on the recent electoral outcome. Following the initial discussion, an extraordinary meeting of the DZ was scheduled to further examine the draft and explore alternative approaches to structuring the committee bodies. The goal remains to establish functional and representative working committees within the DZ.
