The investigation began following a report concerning the significant theft of coffee within Italy. Authorities initiated their search, acting on a court order, and conducted a raid on a warehouse located in the Kaštel region on Tuesday. The Split-Dalmatian Police Directorate confirmed the discovery of 14.5 tons of coffee during the operation.
Four individuals – three residents of Croatia and one from Bosnia and Herzegovina – have been taken into custody due to suspicions of illicit trade activities. The police investigation revealed that the stolen coffee was planned for sale to a third party, with an estimated value of approximately 239,000 euros. Today, the suspects will be transferred to the examining judge as part of a criminal complaint.
This action follows the discovery of the substantial quantity of coffee. The recovered coffee will be returned to the Italian company that initially reported the theft. The police are continuing their work to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal trade involving valuable commodities like coffee.
