The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran. He urged all parties involved in the ongoing Middle East conflict to uphold the terms of the agreement and pursue lasting peace within the region. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a comparable statement, highlighting the agreement as providing “much-needed de-escalation.” She expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its role in mediating the situation.

“It is now crucial that negotiations for a lasting solution to this conflict continue,” von der Leyen stated. “To this end, we will continue to coordinate with our partners.”

High EU External Affairs Minister Kaja Kallas has also evaluated the agreement. Further details regarding her assessment were not immediately available.
