All the more expensive energy: what measures are on the table?

Rising material costs, particularly in the metalworking industry, are fueling concerns about inflation across Slovenia. Raw material prices have increased dramatically, with some sectors seeing rises of up to 30 percent, according to Blaž Cvar, president of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (OZS). The surge in prices is being attributed, in part, to ongoing global instability and elevated energy costs.

Representatives from Slovenia’s economy are scheduled to meet with Minister for Economic Development and Public Administration, Matjaž Han, tomorrow to discuss strategies for mitigating these increases. Mitja Gorenšček, the chief executive of the Slovenian Chamber of Self-Employed, Craftsmen and Small Businesses (GZS), stated that the group anticipates Minister Han will support previously proposed measures directed at the government. He emphasized that higher energy prices, specifically fuel and electricity, are expected to impact all sectors significantly.

“We will need to take action accordingly,” Gorenšček added, indicating a need for coordinated responses to address the economic challenges posed by the current situation. The meeting aims to explore potential solutions and determine a path forward for businesses grappling with rising costs.
