A 28-year-old man was reportedly attending a gathering with four friends when the incident occurred. The group was initially gathered at a location where they were roasting corn during the night. Around 2:00 a.m., the individuals proceeded together to search for firewood.
According to unconfirmed reports, the young man slipped and fell into a canal situated near a pumping station while navigating dense underbrush. The canal, described as being lined with concrete, was reportedly filled with deep mud and measured several meters in depth. Serbian media outlets have indicated that investigators suspect the man may not have been proficient swimmers, leading to him sinking rapidly after his fall.
Furthermore, authorities are investigating the possibility that the individual sustained a head injury upon striking the concrete edge. Police, rescue personnel, and divers were immediately dispatched to the scene. They spent several hours examining the challenging terrain, which was overgrown with tall grass and bushes.
The body was eventually discovered the following morning. The initial gathering took place sometime within the current year. Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
