A fire broke out on the Komno road on Thursday, prompting an emergency response from local services. Firefighters from the Bohinjska Bistrica brigade managed to contain the underground fire, utilizing backpack extinguishers to limit its spread. The operation was supported by the Slovenian Armed Forces helicopter, which dropped water on the scene six times to assist in mitigating the blaze.
During the intervention, the firefighters acknowledged the cooperation of hikers and swimmers, thanking them for adhering to instructions, which significantly contributed to the safety and efficiency of the work. However, the firefighters also reported two separate instances of disruptive behavior during the incident. According to their statements, one cyclist deliberately drove through Bohinjska Bistrica, obstructing the middle of the road while continuously gesturing toward the emergency vehicles, which impeded the passage of necessary equipment.
Furthermore, the reports indicated that the disruption was not limited to traffic. Crews also noted repeated instances of interference from a resident in the Ukanec weekend area, who reportedly warned the teams to remain quiet during nearly every phase of the emergency response. These incidents highlight the challenges faced by emergency personnel when managing an active fire while dealing with civilian obstruction and noise complaints.
