An incident occurred at the beach in Zavala, located on the southern coast of Hvar island, beginning around 2:30 p.m. According to witnesses, the emergency unfolded when one of the beachgoers stepped away from the shade to meet her partner for coffee. Witnesses reported that suddenly, screams were heard, followed by the woman collapsing.
She was found unconscious, displaying bluish-gray skin coloration. The victim’s husband was reportedly highly distressed following the collapse. He immediately began calling for medical assistance while attempting to assist the woman.
A bystander present at the scene intervened, taking action to stabilize the victim. This individual turned the woman onto her side, a measure intended to prevent any risk of choking, and also applied cold water to her. Emergency services were contacted, and the responding ambulance crew was notified.
However, the initial assessment indicated a substantial delay, estimating that the ambulance dispatched from Hvar would take approximately 45 minutes to reach the location. Despite the delay, the immediate efforts by those present were critical in managing the situation until professional medical help could arrive for her.
