The Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Infrastructure has announced the details of updated parking facilities at the pass, effective immediately. The new arrangement provides a total capacity of 80 general car spaces, alongside three dedicated spaces for disabled vehicles, 24 spaces for motorcycles, two spaces for buses, and eight designated areas for short-term car parking, limited to fifteen minutes. Furthermore, these parking facilities will remain free of charge until the conclusion of the current year.
To manage the flow of traffic, an occupancy display system will be installed at the traffic signals on both the Kranjska Gora and Trenta sides of the pass. This display is designed to inform drivers in real-time about the availability of public parking spaces, allowing motorists to select the appropriate traffic lane efficiently. Before reaching the traffic lights, the roadway widens to accommodate two distinct traffic lanes.
The right-hand lane is specifically designated for vehicles intending to utilize the upper parking area at the top of the pass. It is important to note that the occupancy display refers exclusively to these public parking areas at the summit and does not account for any parking spaces located at private mountain huts. These operational updates aim to improve overall traffic management and ease of access for visitors navigating the pass.
