“The League of Nations is the greatest possible motivation for the EP”

Slovenian volleyball players departed for Slovakia on Tuesday to participate in preparatory matches. These training sessions are part of the team’s build-up for the European Championship, scheduled to commence in Turkey later this month. During an interview with the media, captain Saša Planinšec addressed the team’s focus, stating that the players are highly motivated to demonstrate their capabilities at the continental championship.

Planinšec emphasized that the European Championship remains a core objective for the squad this summer, irrespective of the final outcome of the Nations League. The 31-year-old player, who has represented Slovenia for several years, acknowledged the team’s commitment, noting that the dedication shown during the initial stages of the European League appearances was significant. She also addressed the recent setback, expressing disappointment following the loss to Sweden, particularly given the close nature of both matches played.

The preparation period in Slovakia is intended to build momentum and refine tactics before the major tournament. The team is reportedly using these preparatory games to regain form and build cohesion, channeling their focus toward maximizing performance when they represent Slovenia on the international stage.
