Amidst ongoing concerns regarding the U.S. Army’s leadership, former commentator Pete Hegseth has called for the resignation of Chief of Staff General Randy George. The request was made privately, without a public announcement, following the outbreak of the Middle East conflict.
Hegseth’s move stems from what sources describe as a growing sense of “uncertainty and paranoia” following the “Signalgate” controversy. Internal communications, including a March 2023 group chat involving Hegseth and several national security officials, have come to light. This chat, which included Hegseth’s journalistic work, reportedly contained confidential information.
According to one official, some of Hegseth’s closest associates are contributing to this heightened atmosphere. As part of a series of personnel changes, General David Hodne, who previously headed the Transformation and Training Command, and Major General William Green were also removed from their positions. Investigations are currently underway regarding the circumstances surrounding the decisions to involve these individuals in the conflict and the sharing of confidential information.
