According to the General State Prosecutor’s Office, Abdul B., a German citizen of Lebanese origin, had been monitored for several years due to suspicions that he was an Islamist and a supporter of the terrorist group Islamic State.
The prosecutor’s office detailed that he had previously attempted to travel to Syria in 2025, with the stated intent of joining the Islamic State. Furthermore, he had established connections in Lebanon with individuals he allegedly believed belonged to this organization. His previous legal history includes an arrest in Lebanon last July, where a military court convicted him of inciting religious and inter-religious conflicts.
Following the completion of his sentence, he returned to Germany in November, at which point he was immediately apprehended at the airport. These prior actions and associations form the basis of the investigation conducted by the state.
