According to reports from the Istrian police, an accident occurred near the beach around 11:10 AM involving a commercial truck. Authorities stated that the incident resulted in injuries only for the truck driver and one swimmer, though the scene involved multiple individuals. The accident unfolded after the 36-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle while descending a hill.
The initial sequence of events involved the truck turning right, causing it to collide with a parked motorcycle belonging to a 58-year-old man. Two workers, who were reportedly loading garbage on the back of the truck, managed to jump clear of the vehicle in time. Despite the workers escaping, the truck continued moving over the rocks before crashing into the sea.
The beach was crowded with swimmers at the time of the crash. Among those present, a 40-year-old swimmer from Pula was injured after jumping from the water. The 36-year-old driver was also sustained injuries during the incident.
The investigation focused on the mechanical failure or loss of control that led the truck into the water. Authorities confirmed that while the vehicle sustained significant damage upon impact, the immediate danger was contained, resulting in the reported injuries to the driver and the swimmer.
