Police authorities were notified on Sunday regarding a Category II traffic accident that occurred in the vicinity of the Kobarid camp. According to reports from PU Nova Gorica, a personal vehicle had driven off the roadway and came to rest on the side in steep terrain. The incident involved a 33-year-old individual, a citizen of El Salvador, who was inside the car when the accident took place.

Details indicated that the driver had parked the car outside the roadway and subsequently left the premises. The engine of the vehicle was left running with the handbrake engaged. The initial investigation revealed that the 33-year-old accidentally deactivated the automatic handbrake system.

This action caused the personal vehicle to begin sliding down the embankment alongside the Soča River. Firefighters from the Kobarid GPD responded promptly to the scene. Upon arrival, the rescue team successfully stabilized the vehicle and administered first aid to the injured party.

Authorities reported that the 33-year-old was found trapped within the passenger compartment following the slide. The intervention by emergency services was critical in managing the situation following the unexpected vehicular incident.
