Andrej Slokar began realizing his aspirations in his home garage, establishing a distinct philosophy for the production of ice cream. Slokar recounts the early days, noting, “Since I didn’t have cows or milk, I knew we had to start making a different ice cream.” This commitment to innovation has guided the company, Incom, to sustained success over the years. Currently, the Incom group employs 1,300 workers, including approximately 300 seasonal employees.
The company’s annual output reaches 65 million liters of ice cream, amounting to 900 pallets distributed every day. Matija Šinigoj, the commercial director, stated that up to 40 large trucks depart daily from Ajdovščina to distribute the product across Europe. A significant portion of the production is exported, with approximately 95% of the volume going to markets such as Great Britain and Germany.
The United States represents the third-largest market, receiving annual shipments to an estimated 100,000 customers. The company’s trajectory demonstrates a consistent focus on creating a different product, enabling its expansion from a local endeavor to a major European supplier of ice cream.
