A dead hiker was spotted from a helicopter

The Kranj Operational Communication Center was alerted around 13:25 on Saturday by the Police Cooperation Center Vrata-Megvarje regarding a search operation. Austrian security authorities were actively searching for a Hungarian hiker whose intended route passed through the Jezersko area, heading toward the Czech hut and subsequently toward Grintovec. The search effort mobilized several specialized units.

In addition to police personnel, the operation included mountain rescuers from Jezersko and a mountain rescue team dispatched from Brnik, which was supported by a police officer from the mountain police unit. Later that day, the Kranj Police Headquarters reported the involvement of a police helicopter. Utilizing aerial support, the helicopter team located the missing hiker.

Authorities confirmed that the 56-year-old hiker had unfortunately succumbed to severe injuries sustained after falling in the mountainous terrain. The circumstances surrounding the discovery indicate that the individual died while in the mountains. The coordination between the various agencies, managed through the operational communication center, facilitated the intensive search.

The involvement of police resources, alongside specialized rescue teams, underscores the complexity of the search effort for the hiker. The successful deployment of these resources allowed authorities to confirm the outcome of the search operation in the region.
