Strong winds caused significant disruption across Croatia, with gusts reaching an astonishing 172 kilometers per hour near the Krka bridge. This extreme weather prompted a red meteorological alert for affected regions by our southern neighbors. Net.hr reported that traffic was initially halted across the bridge to Krk during the morning hours.
Subsequently, access was partially restored, however, a continued ban remains in place. Specifically, double-decker buses, motorhomes, motor vehicles, delivery vehicles, and vehicles carrying covered cargo are still prohibited from crossing. Authorities require consent for the inclusion of content sourced from social networks and third-party providers.
Despite these clear warnings, some drivers apparently failed to understand the restrictions. Videos circulated on social media depicting a driver’s reckless behavior, showcasing a holiday caravan driving over the bridge despite the imposed limitations. The incident highlights the importance of adhering to safety guidelines when operating vehicles in areas impacted by severe wind conditions near the bridge.
