Vrhnika mayor: If land is not expropriated, there will be no pavement either

Residents of the settlement near Cesta pod Hruševco have become aware of planned infrastructure changes following notifications received last Thursday. According to Diana Dević, a local property owner, these notices informed residents that a valuer would assess parts of their parcels for the purpose of expropriating land necessary for the construction of a northern bypass road. While the bypass route is set to pass near the homes, requiring the expansion of existing roadways, the Mayor of Vrhnika, Danijel Cukjati, addressed the concerns by clarifying the scope of the work.

He stated that the primary road expansion is confined to municipal property. However, interventions on private land are planned specifically for the development of a pedestrian path, an initiative originally proposed by the residents themselves. This arrangement for pedestrian and bicycle paths is designated as part of the first phase of the northern bypass construction.

The mayor acknowledged the community’s input, noting that residents expressed a specific desire to have pedestrian access even on their own property. This distinction suggests that while the main transportation artery will expand across municipal grounds, any encroachment upon private holdings will be limited to amenities like walkways. The ongoing discussions aim to balance necessary public infrastructure development with the preservation of private property rights in the area.
