Traders will now have the freedom to determine fuel prices at motorway and expressway petrol stations starting March 20th. This decision was made by the government due to heightened demand spurred by the conflict in the Middle East, alongside lower fuel prices observed within Slovenia compared to its neighboring countries. In reaction to escalating fuel prices, the government has temporarily removed the environmental tax on fuel purchases.
Fuel prices will now be assessed and adjusted on a weekly basis. The impact of these changes is evident in the recent price increases. On Tuesday, a liter of 95-octane fuel rose by 3.5 cents to 1.616 euros.
Similarly, a liter of diesel increased by 11.1 cents, reaching 1.807 euros. Furthermore, a liter of fuel oil saw a rise of 11.4 cents, settling at 1.456 euros. These new prices represent the highest levels for both 95-octane petrol and diesel since the conclusion of the war.
The government’s actions aim to stabilize fuel prices and address the increased consumption of fuel.
