Weather forecaster Urban Žagar has issued an advisory regarding an intensifying heat wave expected in the coming days. According to reports, the peak temperatures are forecast for this Sunday and Monday. During this period, interior regions are expected to reach temperatures between 34 and 37 degrees Celsius.
More extreme conditions are predicted for the Goric and Vipavska valleys, where temperatures could climb to 38 to 39 degrees Celsius. These elevated readings raise the possibility that current conditions may surpass the established absolute record for June, which was recorded last year on June 26th at the Dobliče station near Črnomelj, marking 38.4 degrees Celsius. While a noticeable decrease in the intensity of the heat is anticipated for Tuesday, temperatures are still expected to remain high, hovering around 35 degrees Celsius.
Žagar confirmed that an orange warning level will be implemented across the entire country for Tuesday, advising the public to prepare for continued warm weather. Residents are advised to monitor official updates regarding the duration and severity of the heat wave as conditions are expected to fluctuate daily.
