Luka Dončić to Join Vanoli Cremona, Launches Foundation for Young Athletes
Luka Dončić will be joining the Italian basketball club, Vanoli Cremona, following a relocation of the club’s ownership group to Rome. The move marks a new chapter for the Slovenian superstar. Simultaneously, Luka Dončić is establishing the Luke Dončić Foundation, a program dedicated to supporting young athletes globally.
Over the next three years, the foundation will provide sports scholarships to 77 individuals aged 12 to 15 from various countries. These scholarships are designed to remove financial barriers to participation in sports. Funding will cover essential costs such as training fees, equipment, travel expenses for competitions, and membership dues for clubs and leagues.
“When I grew up in Ljubljana, I just wanted to run on the outdoor court behind the block and play basketball. That was my refuge,” Dončić stated. “I’m sorry to see children have to give up sports due to circumstances beyond their control.”
The foundation’s goal is to support promising athletes and ensure opportunities for young individuals to pursue their sporting dreams.
The initiative reflects Dončić’s personal connection to the sport and his commitment to fostering the next generation of basketball talent.
