Marquez Battles Through Challenging 2024 Season
Marc Marquez experienced a complex and fluctuating 2024 season, marked by periods of strong performance interspersed with setbacks. Throughout 2025, the nine-time world champion won eleven classic races and secured fourteen top sprint finishes. His championship victory was ultimately secured five races prior to the season’s conclusion.
However, Marquez’s 2024 campaign began with difficulties, resulting in multiple high finishes despite not achieving dominant victories. A significant crash during the Indonesian Grand Prix led to a premature end to the season. Following a necessary operation after the French incident, Marquez was forced to withdraw from the races in France and Catalunya.
Despite these challenges, Marquez demonstrated resilience. He won the next two stages in Hungary, a race marking the 100th anniversary for the Ducati factory team and the 100th career victory for the rider himself. Furthermore, he secured a victory in the Czech Republic’s main test, substantially reducing the lead held by the overall championship leader.
As of now, Marc occupies fourth position in the championship standings. Aprilia Sport Director expressed initial concerns regarding Marquez’s progress early in the season. The remainder of the season will be crucial for the rider as he aims to regain his competitive edge.
