Wild boars are increasingly entering houses, hunters warn of caution

Wild Boars Encountered Near Istrian Hospital, Hunters Issue Safety Warning

Recent sightings of wild boars in olive groves adjacent to the Isolda hospital in Istria, Slovenia, are becoming increasingly common across the region. While these encounters may appear benign from a vehicle, they pose a significant risk to pedestrians, particularly when encountering a herd. According to footage posted by Isolda hunters, wild boars typically retreat independently.

However, maintaining a distance is crucial to preventing potential incidents. Faik Medić, owner of the Isolda hunting family, emphasized the importance of caution, stating, “They should not approach them for photography or anything like that, they should simply retreat and not feed them, because the wild boar is very dangerous, especially when it has young ones.”

Similar sightings have been reported in Markovec and Pomjan over the past few days. Hunters attribute the increased activity to a growing population of wild boars, but stress that it is not due to uncontrolled expansion.

The Isolda hunters are urging walkers to prioritize their safety and maintain a respectful distance from these animals. They reiterate the need to avoid any interaction, including feeding, to minimize potential risks.
