The money from the Vintgar tickets is not yet in the hands of the TNP: what is happening behind the scenes?

Vintgar Gorge Sees Record Visitation Following April Opening

The Vintgar gorge, within Triglav National Park (TNP), has experienced a significant influx of visitors since the start of the season in April. According to Uroš Brežan, director of the TNP, over 70,000 individuals have visited the popular attraction. The visitation figures are linked to an agreement established with the Tourist Association (TD) Gorje.

Revenue generated from entrance fees, currently totaling approximately €600,000, will be managed by the public TNP. Funds will be distributed according to a predetermined ratio: 25% will be allocated to the municipalities of Bled, Gorje, and Jesenice, while 75% will be directed towards initiatives supporting the Triglav National Park. The designated purpose of these funds is to bolster natural values, enhance mobility, or improve the overall quality of life within the park municipalities.

Each municipality – Bled, Gorje, and Jesenice – has a deadline of September 10 to submit proposals outlining how they intend to utilize these resources. This marks a key step in ensuring the sustainable management and development of the Vintgar area within the broader TNP framework.

  1. It’s concerning that the funds from ticket sales aren’t immediately available to support the park’s operations.
