Živa Remic has the setting for ‘big things’

Živa Remic Achieves Milestone in International Competition

Živa Remic has established herself as a rising star in Slovenian athletics, becoming the fourth Slovenian woman to achieve a time under two minutes in an important international outdoor competition. Her performance marks a significant achievement, following in the footsteps of Jolanda Čeplak (1:55.19), Brigita Langerholc Žager (1:58.41), and Anita Horvat (1:58.73). The race, held at an open field, highlighted Remic’s burgeoning talent.

She clocked 2:00.73, a notable result in her first big international meeting. This performance also solidified her position as the youngest female athlete to achieve this milestone. Remic’s success extends beyond this competition.

She previously set a record in an indoor setting, running 2:00.73 at the Ostrava meeting on February 3rd of this year – a record for younger girls in the hall. Remic is a dominant force in the 800 meters, holding national records across age categories of 18, 20, and 23 years. “I feel great,” Remic stated following the race.

“I am happy that I finally started the season and broke the two-minute barrier, which I have wanted for a while. The race was fine. I had a dictation.” This victory underscores the continued development of this promising Slovenian athlete.
