John Malkovich, a two-time Academy Award nominee, Emmy winner and star of the films Relationship in Danger, Crossfire and Being John Malkovich, in the film in a witty and self-ironic way reveals different faces of Croatia. The story begins when Malkovich’s agent tells the actor that a genetic test has revealed his Croatian roots. At the same time, he tells him that he is going to film a promotional video about Croatia.
Malkovich is initially not enthusiastic about the idea. He emphasizes that he has no time and that he knows almost nothing about Croatia. Even upon arriving in the country, when the border police officer asks him about the purpose of his visit, he somewhat confusedly replies that he doesn’t really know why he came.
