The municipality of Sali is once again the record holder for gifts or monetary assistance to parents at the time of the birth of a child. The Croatian Ministry of Demography and Immigration has prepared a review of demographic measures for the eighth year in a row. This year’s survey is the most extensive ever, as all 576 units of local and regional self-government have submitted data (six of which did not this year).
For 2026, the survey reveals the largest disparities between Croatian cities and municipalities. The top spot remains almost unchanged from the year 2025, reports the net.hr portal. The highest one-time monetary assistance for the first child – 7,963 euros – is still paid by the municipality of Sali on the Dugo Island.
The municipality of Ražanac near Zadar gives 7,000 euros to the family, followed by the city of Povljana and Kolan.
