Trump said on Wednesday in the White House that the US managed to get “millions of barrels of oil” out of the Hormuz Strait despite the Iranian restrictions, without Tehran noticing. “A few nights ago, we escorted 22 ships at night without lights. They didn’t have radar because we destroyed their infrastructure,” Trump said.
Later, on his Truth Social social network, he wrote that the US military had carried out a secret operation to help tankers and other merchant ships, and that more than 100 million barrels of oil had been transported through the strait. According to him, this would prove that the Hormuz Strait is controlled by the US and not Iran. The key maritime artery of global energy, the Hormuz Strait is considered one of the most important sea lanes in the world.
Before the outbreak of war between the US, Israel and Iran, every day, ships passed through the strait.
