The holidays triggered millions of lawsuits by health workers

Boštjan Plahutnik from the Ljubljana Rescue Station and the representative of the Health and Social Care Union describes the everyday life of rescuers working in the so-called Russian turn system, which lasts 12 hours, day or night. “Every day is different. We don’t have any constant or regular working days.

One day there are more interventions, another day maybe less.” In his 23-year career, he has experienced a lot. “Feelings are like nobody is taking us seriously, even though we are maybe very praised and put in the spotlight in some bigger, more public events. The next day everyone forgets that we were there.” Regarding the unpaid holiday hours, Plahutnik points out that they received payment for 2025.

He received 537 euros. They have received nothing for previous years, so the rescuers see no other choice but to sue.
