The retired couple from California are coming to Jezersko to plant vegetables

Local Residents Continue Agricultural Work at Šenkova Domačija

Šenkova Domačija is currently undergoing final stages of planting and cultivation, with a focus on establishing a diverse range of crops. Volunteers have recently planted peppers and tomatoes, and preparations are underway to introduce cabbage to the last remaining empty row. The project is being spearheaded by Peggy and Patrick Rebol, a retired couple from California who have been participating for the fourth year.

The pair will spend two months at the farm. They are cultivating a wide selection of produce, including two varieties of raspberries, currants, and rhubarb, alongside strawberries, mint, and various bean and pea varieties. The garden also features carrots, onions, garlic, turnips, beets, cauliflower, and red cabbage.

Volunteers have also planted sunflowers and additional beans, alongside potatoes. “We would stay all year if we could,” stated Patrick Rebol. Peggy, a smiling retired woman from California, expressed her enthusiasm for the work, highlighting the variety of plants being cultivated.

The ongoing efforts demonstrate a commitment to traditional agricultural practices within the local community.
