Janša Forms Government Team with 15 Ministers Following Coalition Negotiations
The government team proposed by Janez Janša will consist of 15 ministers, reflecting the outcome of recent coalition negotiations. The Slovenian Democratic Union (SDS) will hold the largest ministerial representation with seven positions, followed by Nova Slovenija (NSi) with four, the Social Democrats (Dejli) with three, and Focus with one. Today and tomorrow, the candidates will present their proposed plans for leading key ministries to the members of the relevant parliamentary committees.
The first presentations are scheduled for this afternoon. Jernej Vrtovec, leader of the National Statistical Office (NSI), will be among the first candidates, vying for the position of Minister of Infrastructure and Energy. Simultaneously, Anže Logar, leader of the Democrats, will present his candidacy for Minister of Economy, Labour and Sport.
Later today, Janez Cigler Kralj, candidate for Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security, and another candidate for the same role, will begin their presentations to the mother committees. These meetings are intended to allow committee members to assess the candidates’ qualifications and policy proposals before formal appointments are made.
