Mayor of Moravče Describes Difficult Detention Following Investigation
The Mayor of Moravče issued a statement upon his release this morning, describing his detention as “very hard” and “inhumane torture.” He reported a total of 15 hours of questioning on the initial day, followed by two days of questioning conducted by a female investigator and concluding with detention at the Povšetova facility. He stated that the situation was disproportionate given the circumstances. Following the mayor’s release, investigators from the National Investigation Agency executed a search warrant at his residence, based on an order from the Ljubljana District Court.
According to Balažic, the investigation escalated beyond the scope of the initial warrant. “They dismantled the kitchen and took it away,” he stated. Efforts were made to prevent the removal of recently laid paving stones, which Balažic likened to “a Russian drone falling in the middle of my house.”
The action was connected to an agreement wherein Balažic was to modify the spatial plan to benefit the company Termit.
Additionally, investigators intended to detain the company’s director as part of the investigation. The incident highlights concerns regarding the intensity of the investigation and its impact on the individual involved.
