Slovenian volleyball national team selector Fabio Soli emphasized a shift in strategy for the upcoming Nations League season, prioritizing opportunities for young and talented players. Soli stated that the team’s established “golden generation” will no longer be permanent fixtures. “This summer’s focus is to provide as many opportunities as possible for developing players to compete at a high level against the world’s best,” Soli explained in comments to Aljaž Golčer.
“We aim to identify promising individuals who will form the future of Slovenian volleyball.”
Soli believes there is sufficient quality within the squad and anticipates several promising players will gain valuable experience. He referenced last year’s Nations League, noting the importance of integrating emerging talent. However, Soli also cautioned that the competition within the Nations League is intensifying.
“The competition is consistently growing stronger year by year,” he said. “Asian teams, in particular, are demonstrating significant advancements. This will present a challenging environment for the Slovenian team.” Soli’s comments suggest a strategic approach to building a sustainable team, with a focus on nurturing the next generation of Slovenian volleyball stars.
