Maribor Announces Departure of Key Players, Including Hilal Soudani
Maribor Football Club has announced the departures of several key players, including Pijus Širvys, who has stated his intention to no longer wear the club’s jersey. Širvys joined Maribor from Panevėžys in winter 2024, having previously been recognized as one of the top players in the Lithuanian league. The club has not yet formally confirmed all departures, but has announced the exits of Hilal Soudani and Jan Repas, both of whom were established members of the team over recent seasons.
Hilal Soudani, who played 97 times for Maribor across three years, notably scored 36 goals and was twice awarded the ‘Viol’ni bojevnik’ title – recognizing the season’s most valuable player. Soudani’s most significant professional achievements occurred during his five-year tenure with Zagreb Dinamo. Jan Repas, a key figure for the club, has also departed Štajerska capital.
The club has not yet released specific details regarding Repas’ future plans. These changes represent a significant shift for Maribor following several seasons of success.
