Proposed Legislation Aims to Amend Laws Regarding War Graves and Remembrance
A group of lawmakers, including bobo representatives from several Slovenian political parties, have proposed amendments to existing legislation. The initial draft, spearheaded by the National Community Party (NSi), focused on a law concerning the exhumation and remembrance of victims of concealed war graves, impacting both the “Law on Concealed War Graves” and the “Law on War Graves.”
The proposed legislation, initially presented as a law addressing concealed graves, underwent revisions following recommendations from the Parliament’s legal counsel. The Committee for Defense approved a supplemental amendment, transforming the draft into a novel amendment to the 2015 “Law on Concealed War Graves” and “Law on War Graves.”
During discussions prior to a vote, significant differences remained between the original proposal and the revised amendment.
The changes were made by representatives from the NSi, SDS, Gibanje Svoboda, and other parties. The aim is to update legal frameworks surrounding the identification and treatment of war graves. icon-chevron-right Further details regarding the specific changes are still emerging.
